Background. According to the order of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the staff of the National Police of Ukraine is obliged to provide first care to the victims of emergency situations. In our opinion, in this case, simulation training is a more effective teaching method. The main features of simulation training are the possibility of using mannequin and realism of object simulation; the development of specific practical skills based on a clear algorithm of action using modern equipment and without harm to human health; working out team work in simulated situation. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of the simulation training of the National Police staff at the Zaporizhzhia State Medical University according to the program “First on the scene”. Materials and methods. A retrospective analysis of the training of 150 National Police officers at the Zaporizhzhia State Medical University was carried out according to the program “First on the scene”. The efficiency of simulation training was assessed by testing and evaluating simulation practical skills. We also conducted anonymous questionnaire survey for National Police staff. Results. The results of the analysis indicate a rather low basic level of practical skills of National Police officers. The basic level of practical skills in artificial ventilation was particularly low (8.20 ± 0.16 %), as well as in basic life support using an automated external defibrillator in children and adults (8.20 ± 0.14 %), assisting in physiological labor (6.20 ± 0.14 %). But after simulation trainings, the level of practical skills of National Police staff increased statistically significantly. According to anonymous questionnaire survey, 89 % of respondents did not have similar training experience; 100 % of respondents received a lot of new information and new practical first aid skills; 67 % of respondents noted the difficulties in providing emergency care for children, newborns, and assisting in physiological labor; 88 % of respondents are aware of the need to upgrade and support their acquired practical skills and expressed their wish to have such courses at least once every 6 months.
