Oxidative Stress in Patients with Acute Pancreatitis and Its Association with Systemic Inflammatory Response Syndrome and Organ Dysfunction

Abstract


There were studied 129 patients with acute pancreatitis. There were investigated the indicators of intensity of free radical oxidation, lipids peroxide oxidation, antioxidant activity of plasma, severity of systemic inflammatory response and organ dysfunction/insufficiency depending on using medicines with antioxidant and antihypoxic activity in intensive treatment. We find out that enhanced systemic inflammatory response syndrome was associated with high serum markers of oxidative stress. Using antioxidants (mexidol, cevitamic acid) for the treatment of acute pancreatitis allows reduce oxidative stress and systemic inflammatory response syndrome and rate of organ dysfunction.
