Topical and Controversial Issues of Infusion Therapy for Septic Shock in Children

M.A. Georgiyants, V.A. Korsunov

Abstract

The article provides a detailed analysis of the controversial issues of infusion therapy in children. The authors discuss the contradictions between the liberal strategy of infusion therapy, which is recommended in the current guidelines proposed in the U.S. and Europe, and the results of a number of studies showing a negative effect of aggressive infusion on the outcomes during intensive therapy. The problem of a choice of infusion media and endpoints of infusion therapy for septic shock in children is covered.
