Abstract

A retrospective analysis of records of mobile medical emergency teams in Zaporizhzhia about emergency care to patients with severe traumatic brain injury for the half-year period (2014) was performed. Eighty six records were analyzed. An average age of patients was 36.6 ± 8.0 years old. 72 % of victims were male. Able-bodied male parsons prevailed among the victims with severe traumatic brain injury (39 %). All patients with severe traumatic brain injury required airway management and respiratory support (respiratory rate 8.1 ± 0.5 min–1 saturation 85.1 ± 0.3 %). Respiratory support performed to all the patients with severe traumatic brain injury was effective (statistically significant increase in respiratory rate from 8.1 ± 0.5 min–1 to 14.8 ± 0.1 min–1 and SpO2 from 82.1 ± 0.3 to 97.0 ± 0.3 %). Respiratory support was performed in eucapnia (confirmed by PetCO2 parameter 32.4 ± 0.2 mmHg). Hemodynamic parameters resulted in achievement of average blood pressure level 103.4 ± 1.8 mmHg.
