Dynamics of Hemostatic Parameters in Children with Septic Shock

Abstract


This paper describes the dynamics of hemostatic parameters and levels of proinflamattory and antiinflamatory cytokines in children with septic shock. We examined 24 children with septic shock aged from 3 to 11 years. To investigate the hemostatic profile we determined: prothrombin index, thrombin index, activated partial thromboplastin time, international normalized ratio, soluble fibrin-monomer complexes, antitrombin III, levels of D-dimers, time of XIIa-dependent fibrinolysis, platelet count. The levels of TNF-α, IL-6, IL-2 was determined by ELISA. The dynamics of hemostatic parameters, cytokine levels and the level of organ dysfunction by P-MODS scale we analyzed on 1st and 3rd days of treatment. Patients with septic shock without clinical manifestations of bleeding that does not require administration of fresh frozen plasma have a favorable prognosis of the disease. In patients with septic shock with an increase in manifestations of disseminated intravascular coagulation syndrome with depletion of haemostatic capacity there is increase the level of organ dysfunction.
